The University of Wales Trinity Saint David, Woodknowledge Wales, and Barcud Housing Association have developed a unique partnership to form the Wales Timber Development Centre which will be located in Lampeter.
The purpose of this new centre is to focus on developing home-grown timber innovation in a time where trees and Welsh timber are a focal point for capturing, storing and reducing carbon emissions.
Our vision is to create a centre that will provide industry and academia with a leading facility to create, learn, invent and innovate with timber.
The centre’s work will include;
• Home Grown Timber Science
• Prototyping, Testing and Evaluation of Welsh Timber based products
• Embedding and Evaluation of Sensor Technology in Timber Buildings and Components
• Digital Integration of Sensors and related technologies to enable independent and assisted living.
Starting on the 8 June with ‘How to manufacture advanced timber frame panels for high-performance buildings’ Woodknowledge Wales is running a series of FREE online and in-person practitioner-led events on how to deliver high-performance new-build and retrofit homes fit for a ZERO CARBON Wales.
