We have developed a unique partnership with Woodknowledge Wales to form the Welsh Timber Development Centre which will be located in Lampeter.

The purpose of this new centre is to focus on developing home-grown timber innovation in a time where trees and Welsh timber are a focal point for capturing, storing and reducing carbon emissions.

Our vision is to create a centre that will provide industry and academia with a leading facility to create, learn, invent and innovate with timber.

The centre’s work will include

  • Skills – creating the talent we need to efficiently deliver low-carbon buildings for the future at scale and using Timber, a priority for Welsh Government
  • Research – supporting industry needs by answering key research questions that will enable the development of low-carbon construction products and services
  • Enterprise – supporting individuals and organisations in Mid-Wales to transition to net zero, supporting spin-out of new businesses as well as further adoption of innovation within existing businesses
  • Show-casing – providing a unique facility to showcase low-carbon construction materials, products and services that are offered by industry and the wider supply chain.

To build awareness of how timber can be used to deliver high-performance new-build and retrofit homes fit for a ZERO CARBON Wales, Woodknowledge Wales ran a series of online and in-person practitioner-led events.
