Have you ever thought about what the construction sector would be like to work in?
Do you know what the construction sector does?
Well, now’s your opportunity to experience it for yourself. A bit of a taster, you could say before you decide what you want to do as a career in the future!

What is Inspire to Build?
It’s a co-ordinated work placement project for people aged 16-24 living in Ceredigion who are interested in experiencing what it’s like to work in the construction sector. The placements are open to people who may not have yet considered construction as a career option. This is your opportunity to explore construction through a two week work placement with a local company in either a trade or technical professional role this summer.
Inspire to Build has been developed to highlight the wide-ranging careers that the built environment has to offer. These include trade professions such as carpentry. bricklaying and plastering as well as technical professional roles such as architectural technology, construction management and quantity surveying. There’s a longer list below!
Inspire to Build is offering 16 placements this summer up until early August, divided between technical professional and trade roles. You could be working on a construction site learning what a carpenter, bricklayer or electrician does for a living or shadowing an architectural technologist or construction manager going about their day to day work. Your placement will also enable you to learn about the connections between the different roles within the industry, and the changing nature of construction, including the importance of embedding sustainability and net zero throughout our built environment.
The project is led by the University of Wales Trinity Saint David’s Construction Wales Innovation Centre team in partnership with the apprenticeships team in Cyfle Building.
