Ian Brown is a sustainable building expert and project manager with over 25 years’ experience in construction industry. He is a trained carpenter, joiner, non-domestic energy assessor and Passivhuas consultant. Ian specialises in historic renovation and sustainable construction, specifically creating low energy buildings using low impact materials such as strawbale, timber and cob.
Ian has delivered projects around the world and has worked on high profile projects which have pushed the sustainable agenda, many gaining him national recognition and heritage awards. Projects such as Waste House Brighton, the Repair Shop, those featured on ‘Grand Designs’, ‘Building The Dream’ and other innovative private residences across the UK.
Ian has taught construction courses, joinery, carpentry and strawbale construction at various levels. He is currently a senior lecturer in construction courses at the University of Wales Trinity St David in Swansea.
