
Kelvin Donne is currently Professorial Fellow in the Wales Institute of Science and Art (WISA) at UWTSD. From 2000-2014 he was Dean of Faculty of Applied Design & Engineering, with over 2000 students and 150 staff, covering a wide range of disciplines including Built Environment, Applied Computing, Engineering, Digital Media Architectural Glass and Industrial Design. From 2014-2016 he was Associate Pro-Vice Chancellor with academic responsibility for the new campus development at the SA1 Waterfront development, working closely with Kier Ltd, the main contractors.
Kelvin is a Fellow of the Institution of Engineering & Technology and of the Institute of Physics and he has successfully supervised over 22 Ph.D. students and has generated over £4M of research grants, mainly in the Engineering Knowledge Transfer area, including EPSRC Industrial studentships. His main research interests are in computational modeling of automotive glass projectile impact, thermography, and analytical techniques in Intellectual Property management. He has recently undertaken consultancy for Kier Ltd, in the area of academic space planning, particularly for STEM-related campus development.
He is currently Project Manager for the CITB sponsored CONVERT Immersive Learning project, a pan-GB project led by the Construction Wales Innovation Centre (CWIC).
