Overview
As part of the requirements of PAS 2035 and retrofit generally a Retrofit Assessment is required as part of the compliance. This Retrofit Assessment contains 3 elements
RdSAP Data, that required for an EPC, but with NO lodgement of the EPC
Occupancy Data
Condition Report
The required competency to becoming a Retrofit Assessor, as defined by Trustmark, is based on, and starts with, the individual holding a DEA qualification. It is within this course, the candidate learns the requirements of rdSAP methodology, how to survey a property and produce the required evidence for the Retrofit Coordinator. From this, a Retrofit Assessment “top up” is required, but can only be taken with this, prerequisite, of the Level 3 qualification in Domestic Energy Assessment.
CWIC has partnered with Stroma Certification to offer the DEA qualification fully funded.
The course is delivered over 3 days, online. Qualification is then gained by the submission of a portfolio including 5 example properties. All the course material and support is provided leading to the ABBE Level 3 Qualification being gained and entry to the Retrofit Assessment course.
On completion of the above, individuals can be accepted on a Trustmark approved Retrofit Assessor Certification scheme, so they can carry out assessments in line with PAS 2035 requirements.
Stroma Certification’s Domestic Energy Assessor (DEA) training is approved by the Awarding Body of the Built Environment (ABBE). On completion of the course, candidates will be qualified to collect domestic property data, generate Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs), and comply with the Reduced Data Standard Assessment Procedure (RdSAP).
Candidates attend a 3 day online MS Teams course and are supported through their portfolio compilation using Stroma’s OneFIle learning management system. All material including access to Stroma’s rSAP+ software is included.
This qualification is also the entry requirement for moving on to the Retrofit Assessor qualification.
Certification
On completion of the above, candidates will be able to join the government-approved certification scheme, to ensure they are fully supported through their work as a DEA and the ability to lodge reports on the approved government portal.
Who should attend
Those that want to carry out energy assessments of dwellings using rdSAP methodology to produce an EPC or otherwise. The qualification will give a full understanding of the factors which affect energy performance in an existing, domestic building and the likely effects of improvements in terms of both carbon and cost savings for the occupant.
The qualification is open to anyone, (as per the ABBE Handbook), but basic knowledge of domestic construction techniques and heating systems will be an advantage. As the discipline involves data capture and input, IT skills around, transferring, renaming and accessing files and data are a core requirement
